~~ COLLABORATION VERSUS COMPETITION ~~

Recently the Guardian informed that the United Nations indicated the world failed to meet a single target to stop the destruction of nature.

We believe the most effective way to address complex social issues is via collaboration rather than competition. This way encourages persons with shared interests in common challenges to work together toward better and faster implementation of solutions.

However, mainstream society is still very much for competition both directly and indirectly when it comes to implementing solutions based on scientific evidence, research and sound logic; in favour of awarding charismatic presentation skills and competitive thrill seeking; rather than focusing on dedicated and collaborative application of sustainable development solutions, in the most logical order to increase the success of each solution and group.

Why is this? Especially since there are solutions if implemented efficiently, can project the world towards reaching sustainable development goals. This therefore suggests there are other problems that need to be addressed prior, or simultaneously to ensure efficient implementation of existing sustainable development solutions. These are:

1) At the core, persons (even if sustainable development professionals) do not have a firm understanding of sustainable development issues and are unable to identify the linkages between each sustainable development goal and how they will positively impact them.

2) Entitlement culture linked to various societal and professional underpinnings which can be gender, race, status etc.

3) Inefficient financing mechanisms.

4) Issues related to fear of change.

If we work together, and work smart; much can still be accomplished!
